Born in Ljubljana, Slovenia, Jure Kocjan is Adventure Slovenia’s Lead Cycling Guide and a former professional road cyclist with experience at the very highest level of international competition. Between 2007 and 2015, he raced professionally for the Euskaltel–Euskadi WorldTour team and represented the Slovenian National Team, competing in some of the most demanding races in the world — including the Giro d’Italia.
After concluding his professional racing career, Jure chose to remain deeply connected to cycling, transitioning seamlessly into guiding and sharing his expertise with travelers. Now based near Lake Bled, where he lives with his wife and three children, he combines elite-level knowledge with a relaxed, personable guiding style that appeals equally to passionate cyclists and leisure riders.
Having spent years racing and traveling across the globe, Jure brings a refined understanding of pace, terrain, and rider comfort. On Adventure Slovenia cycling journeys, he leads guests through Slovenia’s most scenic regions — from the emerald lakes and alpine passes of the Julian Alps to the rolling vineyards of Goriška Brda near the Italian border — always with an emphasis on enjoyment, safety, and unforgettable landscapes.
Beyond guiding, Jure maintains a deep appreciation for cycling culture, with a particular interest in vintage and collectible bicycles, reflecting his lifelong connection to the sport.
